The Library in Áislann Chill Chartha is also a Taobh Tíre Centre which is connected to the Central Library in Letterkenny. Taobh Tíre is an initiative of Donegal County Council that seeks to improve library services to rural and isolated communities across County Donegal. 

The Library Service works in partnership with local community groups and other agencies to provide access to books and information services in areas that are too small to sustain a branch library.  Aislann Chill Chártha are pleased to be working with Donegal County Library in offering a Taobh Tíre Centre in Kilcar.  

The Library in Áislann Chill Chartha offers a wide range of books which are available to Áislann Library members and also have a small collection of Taobh Tíre books.   There is a Taobh Tíre Computer with Internet access which allows library members to access Donegal County Library’s online catalogue of books, videos, CDs, DVDs and audiobooks.

Any member of the public can join the Áislann Library or become a member of their local Taobh Tíre Centre. Books can be ordered or reserved from the Donegal County Library’s online catalogue and they will be delivered directly to the Taobh Tíre Centre in Kilcar, once you have finished with the book it can be returned to us for collection.
